Gold for Finland and Germany – 9 countries qualified for Singapore

The three medallists in men's singlesThe 10 European players at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games were found this weekend in Svendborg. 9 different countries will be represented in the Games – France was the only country qualifying two players. Finland’s Kasper Lehikoinen and Gemany’s Fabienne Deprez won the gold medals.

Double joy for France – first qualifiers for YOG found

Morten Frost coaching QuachOn day two of the European Qualification event towards the 2010 Youth Olympic Games, the first qualified players were found. The eight winners of the quarter finals have already booked their ticket to Singapore, and now they will play for the medals.

France was the only country qualifying two players for the semi finals, and thereby winning a ticket to the Singapore games. Lucas Claerbout has been persuasive throughout the first matches, and he booked a semi final spot when he eased past Juan Manuel Fernandez from Spain.

Europe’s Olympic hopes fighting in Svendborg

Anatoly Yartsev, RussiaThe European qualification event towards the 2010 Youth Olympic Games took its beginning today, Friday in the intimate Svendborg Badminton Hall. 5 boys and 5 girls will be getting tickets to Singapore in August – and today gave the first answers about who it might be.
